Welcome to the Twin Falls Education Foundation!

Twin Falls Education Foundation exists because of you. In its 30+ years of service to Twin Falls School District and the Magic Valley, numerous community leaders and talented volunteers have committed to building the resources needed to help support our school district. As an independent 501(c)(3) organization, the organization is devoted to raising philanthropic funds for those things that tax dollars simply cannot provide.

The organization is an independent, community-based institution that mobilizes ideas, leadership, and money necessary to enable and encourage private individuals and businesses to make a direct and meaningful impact on children and education within Twin Falls School District.

Cash for Classrooms Thank You

Thank you so much for your generous support through the Education Foundation (Cash for Classrooms program). Because of your $1,000 grant, I was able to purchase a classroom seismograph along with a protective plexiglass cover, and it has already become one of the most exciting (and talked-about) tools in my classroom.

The seismograph has been used extensively in both my Earth Science and Geology classes while studying earthquakes, plate tectonics, and Earth’s internal processes. Students were able to observe real-time seismic activity, analyze seismic waves, and connect abstract concepts like P-waves, S-waves, and fault movement to real data. We’ve compared background noise versus actual seismic events, discussed how scientists locate earthquake epicenters, and explored how seismographs are used around the world to monitor Earth’s activity.

One unexpected bonus was that the seismograph also turned into a lesson in perseverance and problem-solving. As I worked to assemble and calibrate it, students watched me troubleshoot, re-read instructions (multiple times), and make small adjustments until it finally worked properly. It turned into a great real-world example of how science isn’t always plug-and-play—and that even teachers sometimes have to struggle, problem-solve, and learn alongside their students!

The plexiglass cover has been especially helpful in keeping the instrument safe while still allowing students to closely observe how it functions. It’s allowed for hands-on learning without the fear of accidental “scientific disasters.”

This grant has made a lasting impact on student engagement and understanding, and it has brought earthquakes and geology to life in a way that textbooks simply can’t. Thank you again for supporting hands-on science and for investing in meaningful classroom experiences. My students and I are incredibly grateful.

Sincerely, Meg Greenwood Earth Science, Geology and Astronomy Teacher

OUR TESTIMONIALS

Nathan Hyer

While Idaho is frugal with its education funds, this leaves less to help give students a real world experience outside the classroom. Because of Twin Falls Education Foundation and its donors, I have been able to introduce my students to basic electronics, automation, robotics, and programming to help them understand the real world and how technology improves lives. We all wish that our tax dollars provided for the ‘extras,’ but until they do, please support TFEF to help fill in the gaps and support educators.

After being named Teacher of the Year by Twin Falls Education Foundation and Twin Falls School District, I was inspired to continue my education and pursue a master’s degree in Education Administration. I credit Twin Falls Education Foundation for recognizing and validating my talents as an educator, for believing in me, and for giving me the confidence to go further. They truly are a change agent.

Our budget allows us to maintain the necessities in schools, but we are lucky to have a community that believes in and values the importance of public education and understands that investing in our students is investing in our community and in the future. Twin Falls Education Foundation bridges the gap between what can be funded and what is needed in the classroom. They bring public and private partners together to ensure every student has the opportunity to succeed in school and in life.

Our most vulnerable students and their families are likely to endure physiological stressors, such as risk of hunger and homelessness, unsafe and crowded living conditions, poor sanitation, and inadequate safety nets, employment, or needed social supports. Twin Falls Education Foundation has assisted in meeting the needs of those struggling in an effort to keep our kids in school. They recognize the risk factors and are among the first to lend a helping hand.
