Student needs are deficits in physiological needs that impede academic, physical, behavioral, and self-help activities in daily living or social achievement. Student needs are determined by teachers and/or other professionals (sometimes through formal assessments) and in consultation with parents or legal guardians.
In Twin Falls School District, hundreds of children lack the basic day-to-day essentials that many of us take for granted. Twin Falls Education Foundation works to provide special assistance to students who are referred by school administrators and social workers. Examples of common student aid requests include new underclothing, winter coats, shoes, feminine and basic hygiene kits, backpacks, general school supplies, and holiday assistance. Our goal is to not only remove barriers to learning, but to provide adequate support to ensure that all students can attend school ‘ready to learn.’
